CHAMPIONS OF THE HEART

This is a tribute page to our long eared friends who have gone on to greener pastures

but will forever be in our hearts and fondly remembered by those who loved them.

EAGLE REST DON QUIXOTE  1984-2009

Eagle Rest Don Quixote, a Mammoth Donkey, was purchased at three months from Eagle Rest Plantation in Kevil, Ky. From Brayer Hill mares, Odie sired Brayer Hill Sure Smooth Zorro, Brayer Hill Othello, Brayer Hill Razzle Dazzle, Brayer Hill Cowboy Up and Brayer Hill Cisco Kid,  for Brayer Hill Farm and he produced other mules for other farms. He is a half brothr to Brayer Hill Bubba.  He stood at stud and was shown in driving, halter and performance. Odie also did a coffee promotion for Maxwell House in St. Louis and promoted donkeys at the Horse-A-Rama in Ft. Worth.

Unfortunately, due to a breeding accident, he had to be gelded. But he seems to enjoy his new found role in life. He took care of the weanlings with Zorro and babysat the yearlings, too. His gentle nature and quirky sense of humor endeared him to all. Odie was shown  participates in parades, but for the most part he was an amiable companion at the farm and the official greeter for the visitors.

Odie produced saddle mules who earned awards and titles from ADMS and NASMA

No farm should be without a donkey and Odie was Brayer Hill Farm's favorite resident for 25 years and always in our hearts.
