The General Show & Contest Rules Committee is again reviewing submissions of rule changes for our the Seventh Edition NASMA Handbook.  All submissions will be published to the membership at Seventh Edition Submissions.  We would like your participation in a number of ways.

  1. Submit a rule change.  New this year is the ability to submit your rule changes on line.  Thanks our web designer, all you have to do is fill in the rule change form at http://www.nasma.us/Forms/RuleChange.asp and hit submit or print and mail.

  2. Check the Seventh Edition Submissions page often for updates.

  3. Your input is important so contact your Board of Director and/or the General Show & Contest Rules Committee with your comments or questions.  Contact the Committee by email or your Board of Director with your input in regard to the rule change submission.

  • I will be recommending to the Committee to publish a new Handbook yearly instead of every two years because of the renewed interest and participation of members in rule book changes; By Law rewrites; and avoiding having to print addendums to the printed rule book.   The pace with which NASMA is changing; new ideas brought to the Committee by members; and the need to constantly update criteria and correct mistakes justifies publication on a yearly rather than bi-annually basis.  I withdrew this recommendation.

  • In order to follow the SOP guidelines for this Committee.  My intent is to publish all submissions at Seventh Edition Submissions on the web from now until July 1st in order for you to provide input for the Committee and Board of Directors.  Then the Committee will have a Working Meeting at Shelbyville where we can sit down together and discuss everything that’s been submitted and vote on the finalized changes to be presented to the Board of Directors.

  • That will give us plenty of time to get the new book to the printers and ready to mail when people begin to renew for 2009.  It will also get the new rules to judges well before shows begin for next year thus allowing the Judges Committee to test their knowledge of the rules prior to their judging shows that year.

If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at ruleschair@nasma.net . Again, I would like to extend my appreciation to the Committee for their hard work and look forward to working with them on this project in the upcoming year.

RULES COMMITTEE PROCEDURES

  • In order to see the changes submitted, click on the GRAY file tabs under Rule Book Section below ↓to see the Worksheets for a specific divisions of rules.

  • The Rules Chair will post all rule changes received.

  • The submitter's name will be withheld. Consequently, the merit of the rule change will be determined on the justification alone.

  • When rule changes are submitted on line or by mail, they cannot be changed, even by the chair.  If changes are suggested by the Committee, the submitter must give permission for the change and resubmit it.  This maintains the integrity of the submitter and the Committee.

  • The Committee reviews each submission in the rule book section and will vote on each separately in order to determine which changes will be presented to the Board of Directors for their final approval for the Seventh Edition Rule Book.

Check back for updates as the rule changes are submitted.
