It is indeed true that Shelby Osborne died tragically this afternoon after being hit from behind by a beef bull. He died virtually instantly. His grandson, Tyler, was there with him. Jonathan Waugh and Tyler have been friends for years and went to school together.

Shelby was a deeply religious man and he could sing like an angel. I don't think there is a person that ever met Shelby Osborne that didn't like him.

Shelby was an untapped asset to NASMA and the mule industry. His name and his farm, Clearview Farm, was recognized by many in the Appaloosa circle. His horses won many World and National Championships. Shelby began raising mules from his excellent herd of broodmares just a few short years ago. Shelby was fascinated by mules and what they could do. I was always so proud that a breeder such as Shelby Osborne took an interest in mules. Shelby never did anything less than first class. I think the mule industry has suffered an early loss due to Shelby's death. He was just getting started.

Last year when I found out that Shelby was a member, I emailed Candace and gave her Shelby's name to contact about the Breed Improvement Committee. His daughter is Andi and she married Andy Ream (Andi and Andy).
