Today at Children's Hospital in St. Louis, our 11 year-old son, Harry, had a PET
imaging, chest x-ray, EKG, several blood tests, pulmonary test, etc. A long day.
Bottom line is that he has Hodgkin's NS Lymphoma stage 2. The good news is that
the success rate of a proven treatment regime is very good, nearly 100%. The
other good news is that after today, Harry has increased his circle of female
admirers. About 20 nurses at Children's are in love with him. His Boy Scout
manners and charm really pays off!
He will have a port put in next Tuesday, and the first of his 8 chemo treatments
the same day. Chemo is a 4 part cocktail administered in a slow drip into his
port, every 2 weeks, for 4 months, followed by daily radiation for three weeks.
Prayers for him are very much appreciated.
As we were counting our MANY blessings today, it was not lost on us how
fortunate we are to have private insurance and health care of our choosing. We
went from an appointment with a specialist, to a biopsy, to a treatment plan in
little more than a week, and thank God.
Thank you again for your many prayers, and our address is below if you’d like to
send Harry a note. I have also included his cell phone number as he likes to
text as well. ;o)

Update
He feels pretty good right now. He has all along. He gets his chemo port
(under the collar bone) placed this Tuesday at Children's Hospital, St. Louis,
and will get his first chemo treatment the same day. Chemo drip is scheduled for
every two weeks for 4 months, followed by spot radiation every day for three
weeks. Cure rate for Hodgkin Nodular Sclerosing Lymphoma stage 2 A is very good.

Update
Harry's chemo port was placed surgically this afternoon. He finished his
first chemo drip into it an hour ago (7 p.m. Tues.11-17-09). He's tolerating it
all very well, and is hungry as a horse. Thanks to all for your cards, emails,
and prayers.

Update
Harry's treatments are going very well . He feels pretty good most of the
time. Still feels good enough to aggravate Abby. He just finished his fourth
chemo yesterday. We expect four more, then a month of radiation. White blood
counts bounce back well between treatments. Thank you for your prayers. We
encourage prayer for Dozer Garrett.
Wish you a good new year.

Update
Dear Family & Friends:
Harry received his 5th of 8 treatments yesterday, and it was a rough day for
him. He got sick during his pre-chemo (anti-nausea meds), completed chemo just
fine, but was quite sick when he got home. His anxiety has grown a great deal
the last two treatments, and he just hates being at the hospital. He is
very sensitive to the tastes of the medications through his port, and his doctor
believes anxiety is what brought about this episode. He's never been sick
before, and he may have just had a bug. We don't know, but please pray that this
was a fluke and he will sail through his remaining 3 treatments with ease. He
feels great today, better than usual one day post treatment, so I just don't
know what to make of yesterday.
There is good news as well! He had another PET Scan last Friday and when we saw
that scan next to his diagnosis scan, the difference was just amazing! I could
barely detect any cancer at all on his new scan! The chemo is clearly working
incredibly well and his doctors are very pleased with his progress, incredibly
pleased. He was originally supposed to have 8 weeks of radiation following
chemo, but now they are thinking he will only need 3 weeks. There's even a
chance we can do this in Rolla, which is closer to home, instead of St. Louis.
All in all, things couldn't be going better given the circumstance. The docs
have prescribed an anti-anxiety drug for him to take just before his next
treatment, and say that its very common for anxiety to cause anticipatory
nausea. Please, please pray that he has a better experience in two weeks.
Again, he is perfect today. Feels better than ever, so we are grateful.
I can never begin to thank you enough for your friendship, prayers, love, and
support for Harry. Please keep it up! :o)
