NASMA President’s Pen
On behalf of the NASMA Scholarship Committee, it is a pleasure to
announce the 2012 recipients, Hunter Marie Gramman and Abigail
Colbert.
Hunter Gramman was NASMYA High Point Youth in 2008, 2009 and 2011
and the 2010 Firecracker Circuit High Point. Her litany of
activities include “Miss Tree City”, FFA, 4-H, Jr Optimist Club, Art
Club and a member of the St Charles Church. Hunter states, “The mule
world has influenced me by helping me to realize that hard work can
get you where you want to be in life.” She is currently attending
McDowell School of Cosmetology and will transfer to Paul Mitchell
Cosmetology School in the Fall.
Abigail Colbert says about her NASMA membership, “It was immensely
gratifying to be the recipient of the mentoring, lessons, pointers.
A NASMA membership offers many such lessons in character building
and relationships.” Abby is a 10 year 4-H member, attending National
4-H Conference three times. She performed in “The Nutcracker Suite”
in St Louis, earning a lead stage role, and was a participant in “So
You Think You Can Dance.” Abby is a member of Phi Theta Kappa,
served as NASMYA President, camp counselor and is active in her
Church. Abby will be attending Lindenwood University in St Charles,
Missouri.
NASMA offers a $500 Scholarship to graduating High School seniors.
Applications are due May 1st of each year. Thank you, Cheryl Metheny
and your committee, for the work you do with this program!

Our gratitude to Tom Cochran for developing the Hall of Fame, and
bringing these stars to the forefront. Per Tom, the heart of the NASMA Hall of Fame lies in our commitment to the future by
supporting members, breeders, and trainers and contributing programs
that promote diversity, dignity, respect and education necessary to
succeed in both breeding and competition.” Applications are due
April 1st of each year.
Early feedback on the “River Valley” show held May 19-20 in
Arkansas…lots of fun, lots of beautiful awards, and lots of
participation in the cattle classes. Hooray!
Your National Show Committee has built a terrific show for you in
Shelbyville, Tennessee July 12-14. Still requiring sponsorships and
Silent Auction donations. Elisha, Terri, Peggy and Karl – Thank you
for the countless hours you have invested in this show!
