Dear Fellow NASMA Members,

The summer has been full of activities and surprises. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying some time with your mules and donkeys.

I have been up in the mountains here in Wyoming and have attended some more John Lyon’s seminars in CO. On a sad personal note, Doris lost her son recently in Germany and had to go there to make funeral arrangements. Doris and I want to thank all of you for your expressions of condolences and support during this difficult time.

NASMA is moving forward and with the support of all of you, we have begun to put the final plans in place for the NASMA World Show which will be held this fall in Carthage, MO. Class lists and entry forms are on the website.

We also have had a Board Meeting at the All Star Show and for the first time in NASMA history, several board members were able to attend by teleconference.

The elections of new Directors was held under the guidance of Nominating Chairman Jim Selph. I'd like to welcome the new Directors: Thanks to all who participated in this process. The voices of the members will be heard through their elected Board Member and NASMA will continue to focus on meeting the needs of the members.

Congratulations to the following newly elected Board of Directors:

Zone 1 Ms. Margo Hepner-Hart
Zone 2 Ms. Crystal Ward
Zone 3 Ms. Kathryn Herrin
Zone 3 Ms. Laurie Jenkins
Zone 4 Mr. Skip Metheny
Zone 5 Mr. Ken Colbert

Check the web site often to see what new and exciting activities are planned for NASMA members. Also, you can use the web site to communicate with your Board Members and any committee chairperson. We want to hear from you, so please keep the lines of communication open.

Support the NASMA sanctioned shows and trail rides. Be sure to participate in your association’s activities and let us know of any activities you think we should be included in the NASMA sponsorship.

The NASMA Youth had a great awards banquet at the recent All Star Mule and Donkey Show. NASMA thanks Lenice Basham for her dedicated service to the Youth of NASMA as the Youth Chairperson. Lenice will be leaving this position and we will all miss her.

If you want to serve as a Committee Chair or on an existing committee, please let us know. Check out the web site for a list of all Committees and perhaps you will find one that suits your interests. You can also read the Committee Reports for the last Board of Directors' Meeting with the minutes at http://www.nasma.us/Minutes/2006.08.03.htm

Membership is growing again and we are committed to continue to grow and add more services for the members. Soon, you will be able to check show and VTP points on line as well as registration data. This is an exciting period for NASMA and we are glad that you are a part of this.

Thank you for your support and for making NASMA a great family organization.

Finish the summer safely, get ready for the Fall trail rides and shows and expect good things from NASMA in 2007!
