From the President's Pen

September 21, 2006

Dear Fellow NASMA Members,

The summer of 2006 was one of the hottest on record in Wyoming and many other states. Fall is here and with it cooler temperatures.

October in Wyoming is a busy month. Elk hunting season is in full swing and with it comes long days, short nights and very little rest. October is a very special month for me personally and for NASMA. The NASMA World Show is October 27-29 in Carthage, MO.

NASMA has faced a lot of challenges and changes this year. The NASMA Board of Directors and World Show Committee has worked overtime to make sure the World Show would go on. This has been accomplished with NO start-up funds. Members of NASMA have re-built the organization and are slowly rebuilding the treasury.

The Board of Directors have been busy developing a Standard Operating Plan, SOP, for NASMA. This SOP is a written document on how NASMA and it’s committees will operate. You may visit the official NASMA web site, www.nasma.net and read the SOP. While on-line, check-out the other new additions to the web site.

One important addition is proposed changes to the NASMA rule book, that will be voted on at the World Show Board of Directors meeting. If you have any questions or comments on the proposed rule changes, call or E-Mail your director or me. A list of Directors and their contact information is also found on the web site. The Directors and Officers are your voice in NASMA.

I would like to invite all members, non members and all Donkey and Mule enthusiasts to attend the World Show. It is a great place to meet like minded people and have lots of family fun. The World Show Board of Directors meeting, like all Board of Directors meeting, is open to all NASMA members. I welcome all members to attend, check the web site time and place of meeting.

I will be graduating from the John Lyons Certification program on October 21. I am proud to be the first person to graduate from the program, using only mules. My mules Diamond Creek Grover and Diamond Creek Angel have been willing partners throughout the program.

Sincerely,

Tim Doud
