Dear Fellow NASMA
Members,
Spring time is a great time in the Rocky Mountains. Snow in the high
country is disappearing fast meaning more land is open for riding. I
meet many people who just let to ride they mules and donkeys with
friends. The always have the same question concerning NASMA.
“I do not show my mules and donkeys, I just trail ride, why should I
be a member of NASMA?” The answer is simple, the VTP Tail Committee.
Trail riders can join other trail riders, in there area or across
the US on NASMA sanctioned rides. This is a great place to meet
other long ears loves who love to trail rider. You also can earn
awards for time you spend riding your mule or donkey. Tracking your
hours is easy, log on to the official NASMA web site,
www.nasma.net and click on the
VTP. If you have a favorite ride you love to take, consider holding
a NASMA National sanctioned ride. NASMA members are also looking for
a place to ride and love riding with other members.
The NASMA VTP Committee Chairperson is Stacy Golian. You may contact
her by calling 573-985-7623 or E Mail
vtp@nasma.net. She is
working hard to update communication and the availability of logging
your hours on line. Stacy is also looking for members that love
trail riding, to help her with this very important committee.
Just a reminder, if you own a Jack and raise mules, now is the time
to nominate your Jack to the All-Star Futurity. All information you
need is found on the web site.
NASMA has also added sanctioned shows since last month. And, these
are also listed in the web site.
I would like to congratulate two NASMA members. Lori Montgomery and
Loren Basham who have been selected to compete in the “Extreme
Cowboy Race” This is the first time mules have been selected to
participate and is a very high honor for Lori, Loren and their
mules. Lori will be competing at the Equine Affair in Columbus, OH
and Loren will be at the Kansas City, MO race. If you see Lori or
Loren, be sure to wish them “Good Luck”
Don’t forget to vote for where you, the membership, want to have the
Awards Banquet. Instructions are on-line and in Mules & More.
Also remember that NASMA is run by, you the membership. If you have
any questions, concerns or comments, let me know. NASMA is always
looking for mule and donkey lovers to be more involved in the
association, if you are interested let me know.
Sincerely,
Tim Doud
